Derek Jacobi as "Hamlet"

Sir Derek Jacobi
"Hamlet, Prince of Denmark"
Premiered 1980 on BBC Television

I was never really interested in Shakespeare until the day I saw Derek Jacobi's performance as "Hamlet" in high school British Lit class. That was the early 80s, and since that day, it has remained my favorite performance of an all-time favorite play.

I've loved it since the first time I saw it, and I finally found it available for purchase on DVD last week. (Thank you, Tammy!) Now I actually own the only performance of this play that ever made me cry, and the one that gave me an appreciation for all of Shakespeare's work. (Thank you, Sir Derek.)

I'll spare you my own lame analysis, since there are people far more qualified in that department than I am. I'll simply say these screencaps don't begin to do it justice -- and if you ever have a chance to see this, by all means, do it.
